For those of you who haven't heard, I've been having some visa issues. Such is the life of someone living abroad. We've been jumping through loopholes for a couple of weeks and I still have to leave the country tomorrow. Basically, I can't get a teachers visa because I don't have a degree and they don't recognize a teachers assistant as someone who needs a visa. I can't get a tourist visa because I have a work permit and if I had a tourist visa then the work permit would be void. I can't get a volunteers visa underneath the school because they are not a foundation and according to the Thai government, school's to not need volunteers. So this left us in a bit of a tricky situation as there are no more visas to get. So, we've had to look for another foundation that is willing to let me have a visa underneath them. Thankfully we've found a couple who have a foundation and are willing to help me get my visa, and are not asking for any volunteer hours from me. I leave for Singapore tomorrow and there I will go to the Thai embassy and hopefully everything from then onward will go smoothly.
In amongst this and other things going on at the school, it has been harder to focus on the positives of every day. However I know they are there, and I know that there is so much to be thankful for.
The sunrises on our 6.45 am leave for school always make the early mornings a little more pleasant.
One of our first graders decided to be ghetto for the day.
Friends on a day to the zoo.
Some pretty deer and sun shining through the trees.
Meeting the most beautiful baby elephant!
Me with 2 of my 3 wonderful room mates who keep me sane and make the not so fun days enjoyable.
You wouldn't believe it but even in Thailand, we enjoyed some snow and sledging in the 'cold zone' part of the zoo. It was -7 and it finally felt like Christmas. So cold, so slippy, so much fun!
